  • Been so long!

    To those that care!

I am still working at the Benton Wal-Mart.  Ben and I have broken up...he had gotten a bit controlsive/abusive and I got out!  I loved him...I really did, but he wanted me to do things a certain way, look this way, tried to say that there was a cure to make a 27 year old scar to go away because he didn't like it, said that what had happened to my family was punishment from God....even more if you believe that.  He had just gone crazy, and if you know me at all you would know that I'm not the type that you try to change.

For those that didn't know...my mother had breast cancer, she was diagnosed in November before Thanksgsiving, and her mass-ecomy was the 11 of December.  They caught it fast enought that she will not need any cemo or radiation!!  But that means a higher risk for me and my sisters.  Personally I have already battled cancer once in my life I really do not want to do it again!!

So I'm still at Wal-Mart, I graduated at the wrong time!! But I have a job...that is saying something!  There is an opening at the service desk that I am hoping to get because that means a pay increase (anything to make it to where I can pay all of my bills in one month) for me!!

My sister Katie (the middle child...5 years older than me) is expecting!!  I'm excited!!  Another nephew is on the way...Logan Elijah Dodd..loving the name.

My thoughts and prayers though are with my friend Mandy!

    Life is still confusing

I know that I havn't written in a while.  I'm sorry for that, but things have been a litle crazy around here.  I have moved into a house that my parents own, still havn't completely unpacked because there is no storage here.

Ben and I are doing great, his family loves me....plus for me!!  However, I'm confused about my family.  They say that they want to get to know him.  So with my dad's birthday coming up, I told both my mom and my sister that on the day that would work, it would have to be after 6 because Ben has class until then.  They said ok, so I didn't think anything of it.  Told Ben that the day would work and that the place was pending.  I got a call yesturday.  Yes that day works, but they are starting at 5:30, because the kids have school the next day.  I was furious!  If they want to meet him, they have got to work with the schedule.  Now, not only is he not going, I'm almost tempted not to go myself.  Why would my family do this??  The kids don't get to bed until about 930 anyway.  I know that I need to go, but I feel REALLY bad for leaving Ben out.  Almost like my family didn't want him there.  I'm lost on what to do.

On a different note, I've applied for more jobs.  I'm still waiting to hear back from them.  We will see how this goes.  Bye for now.

  • Confusing job hunts

As most of you know, I will be graduating in May with my Accounting degree with a Finance option.  I recently went to the Spring Career Fair.  I talked with many people, however none of them were really interested in me until I talked to the last one.  The IRS.  I know it sounds intimidating

They were really interested in me, took my resume, told me to finish the application process online, and then I would also apply for the different jobs online as well.  They also asked if I was willing to move if needed and where I would like to work.  I told them that I would work where the job would take me.  They said that western Kentucky is in need of agents and officers.  Since I was graduating with an Accounting Degree I was qualified as and agent or officer.  I would be starting at a pay grade level 5...not 7 because of my GPA.

So a couple days later I finished the online application and start looking at the jobs.  The only level 5 job in all of KY was a mail clerk.  Yeah, you read that right....a mail clerk.  The sad thing is that the mail clerk id making more than I am right now.  So I'm back to square one....again.

Yesturday, I spent about 4 hours driving around Murray, Benon, and Paducah picking up applications and dropping off resumes to the local banks.  That is where I've been focusing my courses on and the accounting/finance combo is great for the banking industry.  I spent another 3-4 hours filling out all the applications and I'll be dropping them back off today before I do into work.  The one bank that I'm really wanting to work at (CFSB) told me that they are doing interviews right now.  A plus on my side is that I work with the mother of the CFSB HR manager.  So wish me luck!  I'm going to need it.

  • Current Beginnings

I know that it has been over a year since I last wrote, so here it goes:

I'm currently in my last semester of college and graduating in May with my degree in accounting.  As that date gets closer and closer things seem to be falling into place for me.  I'm currently working at Wal-Mart, Inc. which is #1 on the fortune 500 list and hopefully I can get a job in their accounting department.

My classes this semester are going to be alright. I have Intermediate Financial Management, Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits, Professional Issues (professionals from the different sectors of accountng come and tell us more about what they do in the "real world"), Business & Society Ethics, and Strategic Managment.  I know it sounds like a really dry and boring semester, but after taking all of the other classes, they are finally making sense in what they do and why they do it.

I'm also living on my own in Murray again.  It is soo much easier to live on my own then to go home and be depending on someone else for something or for them to be dependent on me for something with how big of a load I'm taking.  I work 32 hours a week, have 13 hours of classes, two of those classes have group projects, and somewhere in all of that I eat, sleep and study.

Finally for those that care.....I've cut my hair again, as soon as I get my webcam working I'll take a few pics for you to see.  I have to get to class, enjoy!
